Over the past year, we’ve welcomed new young people, new families and new Personal Assistants into the PA Services community. Each arrival brings fresh energy, new relationships and new possibilities. But growth can also mean change, and sometimes that comes with sadness, saying goodbye to people who have been part of our journey, or recognising that as we evolve, not every chapter looks the same as the last.
That mix of emotion, pride, gratitude, loss and hope, is something I’ve felt deeply this year. It’s part of caring, and part of growing with integrity.
One place where those emotions have come together most strongly for me is our Community Hub.
The Hub has brought me more happiness this year than I can easily put into words. To hear the chaotic laughter, the singing, the chatter, the moments of joy and connection, it’s a reminder of why we do this work. Being able to welcome young people who already love the Hub, alongside new faces and new friendships, and to support them in a space that feels safe, lively and genuinely theirs, has been incredibly special to me personally.
It captures something essential about PA Services, community, belonging, and people being themselves.
A year in complex care is never straightforward.
By its very nature, the work we do, and the lives we are privileged to be part of, come with both ups and downs. There are moments of challenge, uncertainty and deep responsibility, alongside so many moments of joy, connection, pride and quiet progress. That balance is simply part of what it means to support young adults with complex needs.
What makes the difference, every single time, is the people.
With the right team in place, and a genuine commitment to working in co-production with families, the people we support, fellow professionals and our wider care community, extraordinary things can happen. This year has reminded me of that again and again.
We have had wins, both big and small.

Being recognised as regional winners at the Great British Care Awards, and receiving the Outstanding Patient and Family Support award at the inaugural Neurological and Complex Care Awards, were moments of immense pride. That second award, in particular, means a great deal to me personally. How we support, listen to and collaborate with our clients and their families is the heart of PA Services. To see that recognised matters deeply.
But our successes are not defined by trophies alone.
They are found in the everyday moments that rarely make headlines, seeing someone smile when they’ve had every reason not to, watching a young person move forward and achieve something they’ve worked incredibly hard for, or welcoming new Personal Assistants into our team who may never have worked in care before, but know they are seeking purpose, the kind of purpose that only care can offer.
I am constantly humbled by the spirit, compassion and commitment I see from our PAs. The care they show, day in and day out, is not transactional. It is human. It is thoughtful. It is rooted in genuine connection.
I also want to take a moment to recognise someone very special to us,Giles "Mole", our client ambassador. You represent everything PA Services stands for. One of the highlights of the year was having you with us in Brighton when your team received the regional award recognising initiatives that excel in fostering collaboration between individuals who use services, caregivers and professionals. Having you there, celebrating alongside us, made that moment truly unforgettable.

As we draw this year to a close, I hope you enjoy our It’s a Wrap 2025 video (link below), which gives a real flavour of life at PA Services, the people, the moments, the community, and the care that sits at the centre of everything we do.
Looking ahead to 2026, our commitment remains unchanged.
We will continue to champion young people with complex needs, holding firmly to our values and to the way we work.
Supporting young adults with complex needs is not one part of what we do, it is our purpose.
We walk alongside those we support with the warmth of family and the trust of friends, always championing choice, voice and independence.
We believe deeply in every individual’s potential, choosing to see what is possible, not what is limiting.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey this year - our young adults, their families, our Personal Assistants, partner professionals, and the wider care community who walk alongside us. Your trust, openness and commitment shape everything we do.
I am deeply grateful for the relationships we have built, the learning we continue to share, and the belief so many of you place in us every day.
I cannot wait to see what we build together next, continuing to grow with care, integrity and purpose, always led by the voices and needs of the young people we support.
Wishing you all a lovely Christmas and New Year!
