From One Family to Another: How PA Services Came to Be

At PA Services, we don’t see ourselves as a care agency. We see ourselves as a family — walking alongside the people we support, not in front of them or behind them. That belief is at the core of everything we do, and it’s been there from the very beginning.
I started PA Services because I saw too many care models that focused only on meeting needs — not on empowering lives. With a background supporting individuals with Acquired Brain Injury, Autism, Learning Disabilities, and Complex Needs, I knew things had to be different. People don’t just need ‘care’ tasks completed, they need autonomy, purpose, and the chance to build a life that reflects who they are.
My vision was simple: to create a care offering that puts relationships first and helps people live independently, with dignity and direction. Not just support for daily tasks — but support for a meaningful life.
More Than a Service — A Movement
We’re more than a service — we’re a movement for:
Relationships That Matter
Everyday Empowerment
Voice and Choice
Meaningful Lives

From day one, I wanted our work to go beyond the basics. Today, PA Services supports people with some of the most complex needs — always in a way that’s deeply personal, emotionally intelligent, and rooted in therapeutic practice.
We don’t deliver off-the-shelf packages. Everything we do is responsive, adaptive, and shaped around the person in front of us — their routines, their goals, their strengths.
Whether we’re supporting someone through neuro-rehab, helping them plan their week, or just being there as a trusted presence — our focus is always the same: to build trust, nurture purpose, and create progress that matters.
A Family Affair
What began as my personal mission has grown into something much bigger — and more meaningful. It’s now a true family affair.
My daughter Mary has joined me at head office, bringing fresh ideas and real passion to the team. Despite my hopes of having her full time behind a desk, she still supports some of our most complex clients — always insisting that they come first.
My mum, Eileen, originally joined us to support a client who shared her values and interests. She’s now a senior team member, offering supervision and guidance to others and helping ensure our values remain at the heart of everything we do.
Most recently, my son Joe — who grew up perched on the laps of wheelchair users — has shown a keen interest in the business side of our work. While he studies, he’s getting involved in both support work and exploring areas like accounting and employment law to contribute in new ways.
Together, we lead a group of over 50 incredible support professionals, guided by a wider network of clinicians and experts — all working together to put people first.
We truly walk alongside every individual and family we support. It’s personal to us — and it always will be.
